In 2023, after three years of accompanying schoolchildren to the UK on English language study trips, two English schoolteachers from Lecco and England, decided to open a travel agency dedicated to providing high quality study trips. During the planning process of all Learn Away trips, focus is placed on the educational side of the trip. Instead of choosing destinations based solely on how cheap the accommodation is or how fun the excursions look, Learn Away trips are designed to give children and teenagers the opportunity to take part in study trips that are both fun and formative, allowing them to improve their English and cultural awareness, making friends from other countries and memories that last a lifetime.
Mary graduated in languages and foreign literature at the university of Bergamo, and has worked as an English language teacher in Lecco for over ten years. Passionate about traveling, she lived in the USA for two years, and has three years of experience accompanying students abroad as a group leader.
The English side of the project - Andy was born and raised in Cambridge and has years of experience working in the tourism industry, starting out as a tour guide in Cambridge as a teenager. After graduating from university with a degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences, he moved to Italy in 2016, where he has worked as a mothertongue teacher in a bilingual program at a school in Lecco since 2020.
